Better Days Behind
Original acrylic painting on 12 × 9 inch gallery-wrapped canvas
Step into the quiet melancholy of the deep Appalachian Mountains with this evocative landscape. An abandoned wooden church with its weathered steeple stands sentinel on a sloping hillside, surrounded by a forgotten cemetery of leaning, moss-softened headstones. A flock of crows wheels across a brooding, cloud-heavy sky, while a broken fence and scattered wildflowers in the foreground whisper of lives once lived and seasons long past.
Painted in rich, muted tones of charcoal, slate blue, earthy browns, and soft highlights, the piece captures the haunting beauty of rural isolation and the passage of time. The textured acrylic surface and gallery-wrapped edges mean it is ready to hang as-is—no frame required.
