Emptiness Against the Vast

Emptiness Against the Vast

16×20 inch original oil painting | Palette knife | Rich impasto texture

A solitary figure stands at the edge of the shore, dwarfed by crashing waves and a sky thick with turbulent clouds. Thick, sculptural strokes of oil paint rise from the canvas—deep blues, glowing whites, and restless greens that catch the light and shift with every angle. This is pure impasto: every ridge and swirl of paint is deliberate, physical, and alive.

This painting captures that quiet, grounding moment when life’s challenges or losses leave you feeling small—when the ego softens and you remember you are only a drop in an infinite ocean. The vastness doesn’t diminish you; it puts everything into perspective. You are not in control of the storm… and somehow, that realization brings a strange kind of peace.

One-of-a-kind. Highly textured. Ready to hang and command a room.
