Ghost of Bygone Days, Metcalf, Georgia

Ghost of Bygone Metcalf, Georgia - acrylic on 16x20 inch canvas.

Years ago, I did a photo safari up into the tiny town of Metcalf, Georgia. I was intrigued by this old abandoned general store that was along what was the main street through the town. It was so run down, the dried out wood was warping and it was covered in ivy. Yet a closer look revealed that at one time, this little store was loved and cared for. The windows and door had been painted with accents to the trim, no doubt to make the store look inviting to any customers in need of supplies. Now the paint is cracked and faded. One can’t help but wonder who the shopkeeper was and what happened to them and their little store.
