Red Shouldered Hawk
This is an original acrylic painting in a 14x11 inch canvas, framed in a handmade rustic frame.
The red shouldered hawk is a common, medium-sized raptor that lives year-round across Florida, easily recognized by its reddish shoulder patches, barred reddish underparts, and a distinctively loud, piercing call. Preferring pine, oak, and cypress forests near water, these adaptable birds hunt small mammals, lizards, snakes, and amphibians from elevated tree perches. They breed from January to May, building stick nests in tall trees that they often reuse year after year. While protected under state and federal law, they can become quite territorial and protective of their nests during the breeding season.
Bring this beautiful bird home to enjoy its majesty every day!
